Society cannot be insane, only the individual can. Because sanity is a label dictated by society's ruling class.

An insane individual is generally incapable of noticing their own altered state of mind. Therefore they will insist on their own sanity, sometimes even going as far as accusing society itself of being plagued by madness.

Madness is completely circumstantial; that is to say it is a term tied to no static definition, as society is always changing.

Uncertainty is the mother of dependence

I think it's important to get a sense of ... where the society came from. And that helps to look forward to the next 50 years.

Our society accepts the book as a given, but the act of reading -- once considered useful and important, as well as potentially dangerous and subversive -- is now condescendingly accepted as a pastime, a slow pastime that lacks efficiency and does not contribute to the common good.
