Some parents, even really good parents, don't think to start that soon. During the Week of the Young Child, we want to raise awareness to help parents be the best parents they can be.

One of the messages we want to get across ... is when children do not get what they need it is a reflection on their business. Children who are prepared for school graduate from high school, earn lots more money, the crime rate is much lower. In the future, it is a real asset for everyone.

It is a community issue, not just parents.

All parents want their children to succeed in school. They just don't know how to help them. When you read to your children, connections are being made that they will use for a lifetime.

This will be an educational trip. I will stay with a host family and will get to go to embassies and schools over there to see how they do things. It will be a 20-day trip. I'm very excited about getting to go.
