Sometimes I think we're exposed to things we shouldn't be exposed to too early. I think that sets the tone to a person's whole life. Trauma.

I think it's important to keep things positive. Sometimes you don't win, and that sucks, and you work on improving.

I learned to impersonate the kind of person that talks about poetry. It comes from teaching, I think.

So I think all comedians are earning their wings into heaven. We're all going to heaven, but everybody's not going to get their wings. Some people are just going to be regular angels. Doing cleanup, janitor work. In heaven, I'm going to sit on the couch with Oprah.

On the whole, I think women wear too much and are to fussy. You can't see the person for all the clutter.

I wrote 'Hereafter' quickly and without mapping it out too much or being too schematic. As an exercise, I think that was incredibly important.
