Sometimes people talk about conflict between humans and machines, and you can see that in a lot of science fiction. But the machines we're creating are not some invasion from Mars. We create these tools to expand our own reach.

Science fiction is the great opportunity to speculate on what could happen. It does give me, as a futurist, scenarios.

You do a drama, and you are limited by the rules of reality, and in science fiction, you create your own reality. Some people find that daunting; I find it challenging.

'The third planet is incapable of supporting life,' stated the husband patiently. 'Our scientists have said there's far too much oxygen in their atmosphere.

I do enjoy reading some science fiction.

In really, really good science fiction, the line between the science and the fiction is blurry.
