Sometimes we talk about old times or about the difference between today and yesterday. We talk about everything but politics; I banned that.

So many people don't know how to approach retirement. The thing is, if you have some plans, you can step right into it with some gusto. I never would have dreamed when I was 75 what I would have accomplished when I was 80.

Older adults receive a considerable number of perks that enhance their lives, but that shouldn't be just a free ride at retirement. Forget the old idea that you are entitled to simply rest and enjoy yourself. At that age, you potentially have another productive 10 years. There should be some feeling of obligation attached.

Since there are people who can deal with politics better than I can, I have come here today to say farewell to you as the general political representative of the KLA.

There is too much money in politics today and we need to get too much money out of politics.
