Japan has come a long way.

For our 1992 retrospective of Matisse, I'd traveled from Japan to Australia to Mexico to the Soviet Union and could not find this painting. So this summer, when the call came, I said, 'How could it be?

I was in Japan, and my assistant director had worked with Kurosawa. I used quite of number of Kurosawa's crew.

They want to make sure they capture Japan first. Sony is not in such a hurry to market this overseas.
