Strict adherence to these guidelines will ensure that federal employees will respect the rights of those who engage in religious practices or espouse religious beliefs.

It appears that some school officials, teachers, and parents have assumed that religious expression of any type is either inappropriate or forbidden altogether in public schools; however, nothing in the First Amendment converts our public schools into religion-free zones.

The initiative seems to respect the rights of creators to determine how their works will be used, and this has been our concern and objective all along.

Individual character involves honoring and embracing certain core ethical values; honesty, respect, responsibility . . . Parents must teach their children from the earliest age the difference between right and wrong. But we must all do our part.

It is clear that employees' rights must be a focal point for every possible coalition.
