They were concerned (about their safety), but I don't know how concerned. They kept that to themselves.

An off-duty officer should be able to carry weapons anywhere. We're an asset to public safety.

Our members overwhelmingly support primary enforcement of the seat belt by at least 70 percent in every survey we have taken over the past decade. We hope the legislature will finally do the right thing this session and support primary enforcement of the seat belt.

We certainly didn't anticipate a lack of support at this point in time for public safety. These departments have had support for many years…and to see the president zero it out of the budget is disturbing at best.

My department supports this but we support it for specific public safety reasons because we felt it will enhance and improve public safety.
