Syrup is not just concentrated sap.

That's a good run. It takes 50 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup.

The sap flow mechanism is driven almost entirely by the daily fluctuation in temperature. Any kind of change that does occur is going to impact the season.

What birds are out there seem to be scattered because there's a lot of feed. They're not concentrated like it would be if it were a drier spring.

2005 was an excellent year for SAP.
