Thanks to a deal finalized in 2008, Chicago's parking meters will be operated for the next 75 years by a group of investors put together by Morgan Stanley, including the sovereign wealth fund of Abu Dhabi.

This means everything to Chicago. If they want a World Series championship, they've got it.

Until now, we've been a group of buildings surrounded by parking lots, ... Now the garden brings all the buildings together and gives us a real presence and identity.

The divestitures required by the department will ensure that competition at movie theaters in the affected parts of Chicago, New York, Boston, Seattle and Dallas is preserved.

You look at Morgan Stanley and its peers, you see a lot of reliance on their proprietary trading desks and a willingness to take on more risk. If the markets are reaching a cyclical peak, which I think they are, profits are at risk when the economy slows down.

Maybe we can show government how to operate better as a result of better architecture. Eventually, I think Chicago will be the most beautiful great city left in the world. (1939)
