That's the clinically meaningful metric people are yearning for when they come to a clinic. They want to know the chance they'll get well. The chances are excellent.

Patients are hungry for good care. There is a horrific unmet need there.

When I take a new patient and they fail treatment, it's easy to feel more optimistic, because I can see we have tools in toolbox that appear to work.

we took on as a project helping a village in western Kenya. It was 5,000 hungry people beset with malaria and AIDS. And we said, 'let's apply the recommendations of the Millennium Project in this village with the support of a private donor, because government donors don't seem to do such practical things.' And we helped them get improved seeds and some fertilizer for the planting season. That's all. Very low cost. They produced four times more food this year than last year.

People can get past the technology with these devices. You don't have to worry about the tools, only the applications.

One of the biggest things that happens to many people when they have kids is that you suddenly realize that you're not going to last forever. You know there is another generation who are the heroes of their own stories, and that is humbling.
