That?s where the bigger payoff would be. It?s a nice gesture, appointing nonvoting members to the board, but I think their energies would be wasted there.

But there?s nothing to prevent a board from appointing a teacher or anyone else in an advisory capacity. We do know of districts that have student representatives, but we don?t know of any cases of teachers who have actually been appointed to such positions.

I invite each of the board members to go upstairs after the meeting and look at what's been done. It looks really good up there.

The national case precedent says the appointing body can remove a member of a board they appointed with cause. It has to be some kind of malfeasance.
