The American people have a right to be angry about this. At this stage we should not still be having these problems. They are inexcusable.

These are challenging times at home and around the world. We will have to work together in a bipartisan spirit and with our international partners if we are going to achieve progress and peace now and for future generations.

Let the games begin!

That contributes to a loss of public confidence in how the war is going and whether this strategy is the appropriate one and it's being executed properly, (and) whether or not we're making progress.

We should use the commission's recommendations as a thoughtful and informed guide. That does not mean that this committee will be a rubber stamp, ... The final shape of our restructuring legislation will be determined by what we learn at these hearings.
