The big oil corporations say they can drill there without harming the land or the wildlife. Well, that's like our tribe telling Americans to trust us with an experiment that may end up taking away all their cars. We didn't ask for this fight. This is about our survival as a people.

We've hooked fish so big in here we couldn't land them. Fish and Wildlife has taken a 9-year-old, 13-pound brown out of this pond. The potential is definitely here.

Wildlife in this state are already being squeezed by a variety of new oil and gas projects, and new habitats simply aren't appearing out of thin air to make up for the accelerating rate of habitat loss.

There's a need to ensure (that) the land can support other wildlife. There's a need to ensure that the land can support livestock grazing in many places. There's a need to ensure (that) the land can support human activity and energy exploration. You have to take all these uses into account and arrive at an appropriate management level for a given range.

That's the first line of defense for having something pass from wildlife populations into the chicken house.
