The biggest impact on my game was breaking her in the second game [of the third set], ... I played a little more calm and played a little more smarter tennis [after that].

I hung in there, played some good points and found myself in a third set. Her level went down in the third set and I was hitting the ball much cleaner then. To play her here in the first match is probably the most difficult draw I could have had, so I’m glad to get through it.

I played more aggressively in the second and third set, that was really effective for me and gave me a lot of points.

In the first set I went out and played my game. The second set I let her play my game. In the third set she lost some momentum because I got to do what I do best.

I'm not sold on only two challenges in a set. On clay courts, we have unlimited challenges. I'm curious to see if somebody is down 5-6 in the third set and they have used up their challenges. Are fans going to understand that?

When you've played two sets against the girl, you kind of know her game, and by the third set I was really comfortable.
