The company is now, more than ever, a breakup story.

We have no problem with the board aiming for a higher price. However, should the company pursue the limited breakup alone, we have serious concerns about whether that risky strategy will ultimately yield better returns for current shareholders.

Microsoft's response is not at all unexpected. We continue to believe that a breakup of this company is arbitrary, given the increasingly blurred line between application and operating systems. We believe that the company should win on appeal.

You think that you are an iconoclast, but you’re not. You just move, or replace what you cannot have. If you fail at something, you retreat into something else. Nothing changes you.... I left you because I knew I could never change you. You would stand in the room so still sometimes, as if the greatest betrayal of yourself would be to reveal one more inch of your character.

With so many days of gains, there's the possibility for a correction.

Therefore, investor objections of not owning the stock based on 'breakup' fears are no longer rooted in reality.
