The convenience sector has changed rapidly, and given our evidence and the importance of this market for consumers, our provisional view is that it would be appropriate for the Competition Commission to investigate.

There is little question that Sun is rapidly gaining market share, but there may also be evidence of a market turn-up for Internet servers at the same time as a turn down for legacy systems. Sun is the long-term winner in the UNIX category and we still do not see how any UNIX competitor can catch them. Sun is the best-positioned UNIX server vendor, with more than twice the UNIX server market share of any of its competitors.

Only that which is provisional endures.

That was a rule that was changed probably for the convenience of the taxpayers.

The Chinese market is just starting to wake up to this sector. It's a good one to watch.

We're staring down the barrel of a policy problem that's causing this situation for consumers. They should have been given more time.
