The current crop of very talented juniors is a testament to the long-term foundations provided at the grassroots level and the sport will be able to build on this platform by boosting participation, increasing the talent pool helping to prepare future champions to reach our medal targets in 2008 and 2012.

I think it's fantastic that the world's greatest marathon runner, the world record holder, has finally got a championship gold medal. No one deserves it more than she does. No one is tougher or harder than Paula and she fully deserves that gold medal. It's been a long time coming but well worth waiting for.

Every day we wait is a day wasted. If we look back in 2012 and say, 'We should have done that', then we all need shooting.
