The good news is that catastrophic crashes are happening less and less. Planes are now made so well and pilots and crews are trained so well, a lot of things that were very problematic with airline safety are now things of the past.

When we got the news, we just sat there with our mouths open. We'd heard rumors that he might be selected, but you can't go by rumors. And we're just so proud of him. After everything that's happened with the storm, he really needs this.

They made a calculated risk and they lost. That happens in a very difficult business like this.

June's our big travel season, so we may be postponing this to a worse conclusion and it might have been better just to have gotten it over now, ... So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

These are not kinder, gentler times. One way or another, Northwest is going to drive its costs down, and some people are going to get run over in the process.

This system is not a good one. It's like a Swiss cheese -- we all know this. I don't think any of us would congratulate ourselves or anyone else who is involved in airport security with the job we have done over the last 10 years.
