The grass just didn't take. By mid-July there was more dirt than grass. It reached the point that we needed to get this situation handled.

Major league teams like the Devil Rays and Twins have used cutouts, but they're so hard to maintain. You get lips which lead to bad bounces. We wanted something that is zero maintenance. Because there's no dirt, the ballpark can be used for soccer, football, lacrosse, festivals. All you have to do is put down the lines and play.

Now, the facility can host many events in addition to baseball. We're looking at soccer, football, lacrosse. We've even talked about having two or three concerts this year and maybe a festival. It allows us to do so many more things with no maintenance.

The dirt was OK, but once you hit the grass ... Wet grass is slippery.
