The guild is primarily a group of people dedicated to weaving and this one is also a teaching guild. We work to teach each other as well as other people.

There were tears all around. It was just really sweet. It was really a healing sort of thing for us in the guild and the family.

None of us really sell anything. Weaving is a passion and it just puts you in touch with your history to be able to make fabric.

It's part of our mission as a group. We try to mentor weavers and our open house has the goal of letting people try their hands at it.

Many societies have educated their male children on the simple device of teaching them not to be women

Classroom teaching withholds nothing. I say to my young students every year, “I know how to add two numbers, but I’m not going to tell you.” And they laugh and shout, “No!” That’s so absurd, so unthinkable. What do I have that I would not give to you?

Bringing nothing, producing nothing, expecting nothing, withholding nothing —
