The guys went inside, and they made it about ten or 15 feet inside before they were basically surrounded by fire.

There's cost involved there. There's labor hours, maintenance, wear and tear on the machines, there's fuel costs that's involved and that's every call whether it's an actual emergency or a false call.

When rock & roll is done with that fervor, it's close to gospel.

It takes more discipline than you might imagine to think, even for thirty seconds, in the noisy, confusing, high-pressure atmosphere of a film set. But a few seconds' thought can often prevent a serious mistake being made about something that looks good at first glance.

Perhaps it sounds ridiculous, but the best thing that young filmmakers should do is to get hold of a camera and some film and make a movie of any kind at all.

Our job as writers and thinkers in the time is how to bring about the occasions that let people have that first-person experience - or the metaphoric experience that allows them to see human continuity as opposed to total threat, total willingness to do violence.
