I'm the writer of the movie, and I still don't know what I want it to say. But I do know that this town is going to spend years recovering. And in six months, people will have forgotten us. We'll need something to remind America about this place.

So many of our gyms are dark after school. The police say the worst time when kids find trouble is that 4 to 6 p.m. time when the schools close and there's no money to run after-school programs.

What I really want to say to everybody, the media, the police, the police in the states, everybody involved, 'thank you' sounds so understated, but that's the only word I can think of at the moment. I think without the concerted effort of everybody involved that I may have been having another sleepless night. I am so thankful to everyone involved that he was found before the 48 hours were gone.

I do not think the media was irresponsible, because they had sources as high as the New Orleans police chief and the mayor. In fact, it would have been irresponsible not to report it.
