The income tax is a twentieth-century socialist experiment that has failed. Before the income tax was imposed on us just 80 years ago, government had no claim to our income. Only sales, excise, and tariff taxes were allowed.

It's not unheard of, in certain developing countries, for people to pay up to 20 percent of their yearly income in order to have a cell phone.

That means more disposable income, which results in more visits to restaurants and more restaurant sales.

It isn't a free speech issue; it's a matter of public decency.
