The job takes a lot of patience, a working knowledge of special education law, which is highly complicated, and an ability to have a vision for meeting the needs of students whose needs are not usually met in a school setting.

I'm hoping that it's somebody with law enforcement background, and maybe has some knowledge of this particular corrections department. Bringing in an outsider is not going to fix it, because you won't know the personnel deficiencies or the strengths that you have already there.

The combination of additional law enforcement, increased education and a boating public that has become more aware have made this a pretty safe area, ... We have had a few minor boating accidents, including one after the Jimmy Buffett concert (at Riverbend Music Center Aug. 21), but nothing serious.
