The kids really got into it. It was great.

Community members can drop off their donations at our front office. The American Legion has agreed to pay some of the shipping costs and the Student Council officers are working on soliciting businesses for their assistance as well.

It's just great to have something we can all do together. Sometimes it's kind of hard getting the kids to want to do it, but once we get to the park, they really like it.

Every individual face, a grandmother or grandchild or parents and their two kids, they're all there waving at you and they've all come to see you, it's as simple as that. They're not there simply by chance and that's very, very humbling.

For everything that [developers] give - more open space, sidewalks where they don't exist, a playground for the kids, you get another market rate unit. You get more bang for your buck, but in trade, you've got to give us what we want.

I think it empowers kids when they have some choice. Ask kids what they like about their favorite and spend some time with that piece.
