The leader's blueprint speech is a statement of what Labor will seek to achieve in government. That was obviously thought through in the leader's office.

If a Chinese investor wants to get involved, then they will have to meet the normal commercial requirements of the Australian and state governments.

Ten thousand times has the labor movement stumbled and bruised itself. We have been enjoined by the courts, assaulted by thugs, charged by the militia, traduced by the press, frowned upon in public opinion, and deceived by politicians. It's probably the most expensive, intrusive regulation ever promulgated certainly by the Department of Labor, maybe by government entirely. It's costs are in the billion and billions of dollars.

This has taken so long and been so labor-intensive this year that the thought of having to start all over again with a new vendor, and a new format that we don't know about, is just terrifying. I'm just hoping they've worked out all the kinks this year.
