The legislature is going to be receptive to a five-year phase of increase. They realize there are some inequities, and they are willing to address them — just not all at once.

I think that idea still holds true. It's important to equalize the playing field. There is no reason why the wealthiest communities should have the best materials all to themselves. Everyone should be able to use those materials.

This was a very forward-thinking program. Connecticut was light-years ahead when it established this program.

It sounds like to me it's a secondhand store.

I was not a very good mother. I was always running out to do a movie or something. If I had to do it over, I would either have a career or children. I wouldn't do both unless I could work in my home. I spent 20 years feeling guilty, which is not a very nice emotion.

Sometimes in your career, you are at the right place at the right moment. But you have to be aware that eventually you may no longer be the right person for that position. So build your succession and foster for it while you are still at the peak of you career.
