The most solid advice for a writer is this, I think: Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough

I don't think anybody can teach anybody anything. I think that you learn it, but the young writer that is as I say demon-driven and wants to learn and has got to write, he don't know why, he will learn from almost any source that he finds. He will learn from older people who are not writers, he will learn from writers, but he learns it -- you can't teach it.

He neither walks with the multitude nor cheers with them. The writer who is a real writer is a rebel who never stops.

The first thing you want to do is sit down and breathe deeply.

Sometimes you step in to give someone advice and they think you’re telling them what to do. Then you sit back and watch everything you predicted happen just as you said it would. Some people learn through advice and others by experience.

Revenge is a caustic thing. I say, Breathe in, breathe deeply, let it go.
