The Old Testament describes the hell of the past, and the New the hell of the future

My principal objections to orthodox religion are two - slavery here and hell hereafter

The present is the necessary product of all the past, the necessary cause of all the future

If a man would follow, today, the teachings of the Old Testament, he would be a criminal. If he would follow the teachings of the new, he would be insane.

Religion has not civilized man, man has civilized religion.

Our hope of immortality does not come from any religions, but nearly all religions come from that hope.
