The only good is knowledge, and the only evil is ignorance.

If they exert it not for good, they will for evil; if they advance not knowledge, they will perpetuate ignorance.

Knowledge is power. Power to do evil...or power to do good. Power itself is not evil. So knowledge itself is not evil.

And sometimes ignorance is even harder to deal with than deliberate evil.
