The path we have chosen is consistent with the great tradition of American foreign policy. Our approach is idealistic about our national goals and realistic about the means to achieve them.

It depends how superficially you approach it, and I'm sure he could approach it very superficially. The American Western as a genre is very conservative, and usually involves very Christian themes of redemption. This movie subverts a lot of that. You also wonder what does it take to support that perfect little town? What outside of that town, and outside of that country, has to happen in order for it to exist?

By this I mean that a political society does not live to conduct foreign policy; it would be more correct to say that it conducts foreign policy in order to live.
