The president said that would harm Social Security. But when the president wanted to spend that same money on bigger government, his concern for Social Security evaporated.

I oppose the president's plan to privatize Social Security.

President Bush will show that the math speaks for itself. The bottom line is that the Social Security system, in 13 years, will be taking in less money than it's paying out. We'll go into the red.

If they've pretty much given up on Social Security then what other choice do they have? Whether or not it's politically feasible remains to be seen, but at least it will use up some of the oxygen in the room and crowd out bad ideas.

We probably haven't seen the variety and diversity of threats to Americans' safety and well-being and our national security in a long, long time. Some have said it almost makes you yearn for the Cold War days when you knew who the bad guys were and who the good guys were, and there was a wall dividing us.

I go to be social. Otherwise I wouldn't want to spend the money, but it costs to be social.
