The Read Across America program is meant to get kids excited about reading. Each year, it's been getting bigger.

It's so hard to compete with video games that you have to put on a song-and-dance show. That's what we're doing.

That's what we love to hear.

Education is a key reason a lot of these families came to America -- they want something better for their kids. The kids really want to be in summer school. You can tell by the way they revere the teachers and staff, before they become Americanized.

Teachers receive a lot of training in reading instruction, and I think we've seen that start to pay off over the last couple of years.

We need to let black America know, we do want you, but we want you on the terms of the United States of America, ... And we want you to be full and complete human beings.
