The reason this study is so important is because it's the longest follow-up study of cancer in women with breast implants. There needs to be enough time between exposure and cancer development.

I'm not saying implants protect against breast cancer. It has to do with the characteristics of the women.

We do know reproductive and demographic factors do influence (breast cancer) risk. If you're thin -- women who get these implants are typically quite thin -- you have kids early, you have a lot of (kids) ... all those things lower your risk.

This is one in a series of reassuring study results that shows there is no credible evidence to indicate an excess risk of any form of cancer due to breast implantation.
