The reasons for the special election and the reasons for the specific proposals the governor is endorsing are not something that are energizing the public right now or generating a lot of support.

Without a special election date being set, it's not an emergency.

The favorable response to the infrastructure plan, even at this stage, is an auspicious sign. The question is whether the governor has, or will have, the political clout to see this grand ambition through.

And I wouldn't at this point make any specific linkages to what happened in this parliamentary election to any of those issues.
