The recent mining explosion in West Virginia emphasizes the importance of training and education to mine workers. The training provided teaches miners and the mining community on how to reduce accidents through education, training and hazard elimination.

Even though Missouri does not have mining issues identical to West Virginia, we feel it's imperative that we do everything in our power to ensure the safety of Missouri miners. The intent of the additional consultations is to get miners to work safer and smarter.

It is different than in special education where you have no alternative. For the gifted, it is an issue that is not absolutely required.

The expenditure formula reflects both regular and special education costs, excluding tuition and assessment costs associated with educating students out of district. It should also exclude land, buildings, capital reserve and debt service.

It will grow customer traffic to the whole business retail area, and draw shoppers from adjacent areas like Highland and Milford who might not normally come into Hartland.
