The Republican Party will never again be a majority party until we regain the confidence of the American people. I believe there is room for disagreement within the party, and we should not have litmus tests.

There are people still in the Republican Party that I believe practice the communication of anger, of disappointment, of regret, of pain, of sorrow, of suffering. That's not what the American people want to hear.

The Republican Party has never been this narrow, litmus-test type party.

I'm a Republican. I'm probably not the cookie-cutter Republican that fits the litmus test of Republican Party politics. But I don't want to be that.

A lot of people out here are Republican. They contribute significantly to the Republican Party. Since Mitch Daniels and the Republican Party are going to be out here today, it's a good way to communicate our message.
