The rest of the country did so much for this city on 9/11, ... It's a small way for us to pay back.

The NYPD has too urgent a mission and too few officers for us to waste time and resources on broad, unfocused surveillance. We have a responsibility to protect New Yorkers from violent crime or another terrorist attack - and we uphold the law in doing so.

I view it as a national issue for the rest of the country.

This is a great event for our area as well as the rest of the country. It's just great that we have something like this in our own back yard.
