The school board meets on the third Wednesday in May to approve the hire. We should make an announcement then.

It's a huge loss. He's done an outstanding job coordinating our athletic programs. He worked well with everybody, not just the athletes and coaches but also with the teachers.

There has been a lot on interest in the position.

I cut school in '84 to see the Cubs and Padres. This is my team. It's special. It's doubly special for me. I missed school to watch this team play. I had dreams of playing for the Padres.

The way things are going now, this isn't good for high school and it isn't good for the clubs. And without a doubt, it isn't good for the kids.

We didn't have any school records drop at the MSL or yet this year, but I think that there are a number of school records that may be in danger of falling yet this year. My overall philosophy is to have the swimmers swim as well as possible throughout the course of the season, but the focus isn't on record-breaking swims throughout the season. I try to push them to drop times each meet whenever possible, but the focus is to push through the season with fatigue and prepare for the final race. ... I think we should see some great finishes to the season.
