The sentiment is terrible for technology stocks right now. We were overbought and now things are moving back to normal.

Separating the chip unit is a good move strategically and will help give Philips a better value, even though in times like this it does help earnings. Earnings were slightly disappointing, mainly at medical, while sales showed Philips is finally showing it can grow.

The fact there is a bid is not surprising. What I wonder about is whether the level of the bid will be enough. I don't exclude a higher bid will come.

What you've got right now is a technology that is jury-rigged from old technology. It was never really designed to provide a high-bandwidth connection and frankly doesn't do a good job of it.

If they are buying into this technology, they have a right to know if it actually works,

Technology is such a huge part of market cap right now; if that part of the market is performing poorly, it's really tough for the other indices to go up.
