The two biggest mistakes USA Hockey has ever made is not having a post-Olympic tour in 1998 and cutting Cammi Granato.

This is the first year [since 1992] USA Gymnastics has promoted a [post-Olympic] tour by themselves, and they've gone about it wrong. I don't agree with the athletes' being asked to sign something they don't believe in and the bad-mouthing of athletes for signing on one tour instead of the other. To have that coming down from the top of your governing body is just not right.

You'd think USA Hockey would be a well-oiled machine. But it's not.

There were some contributing things, but I made mistakes, and that's why I'm in this position. I'm not going to hide from it. If anything, it's going to make me that much more focused, that much more hungry. Some people think I won't be able to bounce back, but that's my motivation.
