The two of us worked together and lived together for 46 years. We shared not just a lifetime, but the ideals, values and the visions he had. I felt that those things were just too important to let die. I had to keep them alive.

We remain heirs of a legacy, heirs of a dream.

We believe strongly in the faith-based thing that President Bush is trying to put to us. People helping people. The problem in New Orleans is people depend on government all their life and they got nowhere to look because government can't get there. God sent us.

There's a duality of a guy calling on God: 'Where are you when I need you?' and then, at the same time, 'God helps those who help themselves.' I think that contradiction does exist in all of us, those of faith and those who profess to have no faith.

Those things are not going to beat us.
