The wise do not rejoice in sensual pleasures.

After many births the wise ones resort (or surrender) to Me by realizing that everything is (a manifestation of) Brahman indeed. Such a great soul is very rare.

Both you and I have taken many births. I remember them all, O Arjuna, but you do not remember.

I do not wish to kill them, who are also about to kill, even for the sovereignty of the three worlds, let alone for this earthly kingdom, O Krishna.

As a lamp in a spot sheltered from the wind does not flicker, this simile is used for the subdued mind of a yogi practicing meditation on Brahman.

I am not known by all. Therefore, the ignorant one does not know Me as the unborn and eternal Brahman.
