The work force in our state depends a lot on us, especially in the farm, poultry and construction industries. North Carolina has a lot of rural communities and much of that work force are Latinos.

We are talking about civil rights, and we feel like it's time for us newcomers across the U.S. to play a civic role. Mexicans have been waiting for a long time for immigration, and the debate has just gone on and on and on.

The other thing is you need a good solid work force and 50 percent of us is female, so just play the numbers.

It's going to be a celebration of America. This is about us being here, about us being accepted here.

We have been called by several companies that have an Hispanic work force. They have told us it's their understanding that their workers will not report on Monday.

There are more and more individuals entering the work force who may not be proficient in English. As they increase in the work force, we sometimes see the rise of workplace policies that might interfere with their ability to maintain their jobs.
