There are over 20 armed conflicts in progress which have little to do with the war against terrorism.

It is an extremely precarious situation, and we remain worried, ... The situation is preoccupying and we have to expect that it will become even worse.

This incident is unacceptable and has a chilling affect on relations between friendly countries.

This is a very positive step. We will still have to see how the diplomatic conference goes next week, but I am reasonably optimistic after the arrangement concluded today.

American credibility in the world, progress in the war on terrorism, our relationships with our allies, the future of the Middle East, and the fate of Iraqis themselves depend on the resolve of the U.S. government and the American people in achieving a positive outcome in Iraq.

The war against terrorism is one we must win.
