There are several building issues at South Middle School - things that weren't done properly that we think need to be addressed. It may seem like a lot of money, but a lot of it is labor and you have to pull all those ceiling panels off.

We know there are issues at South High School that need to be addressed and we believe she'll be able to provide a better education for the kids and pull all of the stakeholders including parents, teachers and the community together to make a consensus.

If you have kids in high school now, you're probably not going to benefit from this. This is a long-term investment. Look at where your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will go to school.

South Middle School is currently up to fire code. The fire department has come in and said it meets all safety standards, but we want to make sure the building meets the fire safety standard in the original building specifications.

He runs the ball and stops the run. Now that's old-school. But it works.

Dr. Gray-Bennett said she certainly applauds the town and joint boards' efforts. But she's concerned next November is a long time away for funding to build a new school to be voted on.
