There was a Category 5 hurricane with a bull's-eye on our butts, so we called Barb and said we didn't know when we would be coming home. We truly didn't know what would happen down there.

At this point, Rita has become a potentially very devastating Category 5 hurricane. Fortunately it's over the open ocean of the Gulf of Mexico, and will be over the open ocean for the next day. But we expect it to gradually make a turn to the north.

I think there's a sense of relief and a sense of amazement because this was a Category 1 hurricane. It's still a big punch that we took.

If it's a Category 3 at landfall, it's equivalent to 25 Category 1s,

If it's a Category 3 at landfall, it's equivalent to 25 Category 1s.

Even a Category 2 or a Category 1 hurricane hitting the Florida Keys or the southwest coast of Florida can have big consequences there.
