There was a time when no difficult subjects were ever aired in the 'Lady', and sadly, life isn't like that.

I want 'The Lady' magazine to be restored to its traditional place in the pantheon of weekly magazines.

It was difficult getting all of the subjects and making the arrangements. Once we got a hold of them, they were great. But the higher the profile, the harder it was to arrange. Sometimes you had to go through layers of people just to reach them.

And I can relate to that, because I went to an all white school, so I knew what that was like. And it was hard at the time, but anything that's difficult you learn from, don't you?

There's nothing wrong with looking like a woman and going in the workplace and doing everything a man can do but looking 1,000 percent like a lady.

Our parents provided us with the essentials, then got on with their own lives. Which makes me realise that my parents were brilliant, not for what they did, but more for what they didn't do.
