There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.

Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.

For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: / The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; / Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; / Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.
